This SMS Privacy Policy explains how The Freedom Institute, Inc. collects and uses information for its text message program, The Freedom Institute School Alerts. It covers text messaging only. Our general website privacy statement is at freedominstitute.net/privacy-policy.html.

Information we collect

The mobile phone number you give us and the name of the parent, guardian or student it belongs to.
A record of your consent: when you opted in and where (for example, our online enrollment form).
Your replies to program keywords such as STOP, START and HELP.
The messages we send you and whether they were delivered.

How we use it

We use this information only to send the text messages you agreed to receive (attendance and absence notices, schedule changes and early dismissals, school closings and emergency alerts, and school event reminders), to honor STOP and HELP requests, and to keep a record of consent. Mobile information collected for this program is never used for marketing or promotional purposes.

We do not share or sell your mobile information

No mobile information will be shared with third parties/affiliates for marketing/promotional purposes. All the above categories exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties.

The Freedom Institute does not sell, rent or trade mobile phone numbers or text message consent.

Students

A text message number for a student under eighteen is added only when a parent or guardian gives consent on the student’s behalf on our enrollment form. The parent, guardian or student can reply STOP at any time.

Security and retention

Program information is kept in the school’s secure student information system, and only authorized school staff can see it. We keep it while your relationship with the school continues and as required by law. Replying STOP ends messages right away.

Your choices

Reply STOP to opt out, START to opt back in, or HELP for help. To update or delete your mobile information, email info@freedominstitute.net. Full program terms are in our SMS Terms and Conditions.
